The Wahoops basketball program is open to both boys and girls grade 3rd through 8th in attendance at Wahoo Public School system. Wahoops girls season typically starts early in October and runs through January, Wahoops boys season typically starts mid to end of December and runs through mid March. These dates may shift depending on league or tourney schedules.
Wahoops is a competitive youth basketball, teams generally practice three times per week until games start and then two times per week plus one game or tournament.
Back in 1980, a group of parents with sons who liked the game of basketball founded the Wahoops Basketball Organization. These parents decided if their children were going to play basketball they needed to learn early because basketball is a game of skill.
The name “Wahoops” was developed from a combination of the town name and the slang term “hoops”, which is sometimes used to describe the game of basketball.
